Our Work
Since its founding, the Spokane Business Association (SBA) has been a consistent advocate for the business community and a driving force behind efforts to strengthen Spokane’s economic vitality, public spaces, and long-term growth.
SBA’s work has centered on advocacy, community revitalization, and business engagement. Through direct collaboration with elected officials, city leadership, and community partners, the Association has worked to ensure that the voice of local business is represented in the policies and decisions shaping Spokane’s future. This has included active involvement in conversations surrounding public safety, economic stability, housing policy, downtown accessibility, and infrastructure improvements.
One of SBA’s most visible areas of impact has been its leadership in advocacy initiatives designed to improve Spokane’s business climate. Past work has included support for efforts related to cleaner and safer public spaces, strengthening law enforcement resources, opposing policies viewed as barriers to affordable housing development, and promoting strategic improvements such as the relocation and redesign of the Spokane Transit Authority Plaza.
SBA has also built strong platforms for business leaders to engage directly with policymakers and civic leadership. Through recurring events such as the Annual Dinner, Lunch & Learn series, and its Focus Councils, the Association has created spaces for meaningful dialogue around city issues, legislative priorities, and community development. These events have brought together hundreds of business leaders, community stakeholders, and elected officials to discuss the issues that matter most to Spokane’s future.
In addition, SBA’s work through the East Spokane Business Association (ESBA) and other focus councils has helped support neighborhood-level revitalization efforts, particularly in East Spokane and along the Sprague corridor. These efforts have emphasized preservation of commercial interests, infrastructure improvements, and support for business growth in historically significant districts.
Beyond advocacy, SBA has invested in member communication and public awareness initiatives, including newsletters, video features, policy updates, and community outreach campaigns designed to keep businesses informed and connected to the issues shaping Spokane.
At its core, SBA’s past work reflects a clear mission: to advocate for a cleaner, safer, stronger Spokane where businesses can thrive and community momentum continues to grow.
